I was really looking forward to this weekend. I got us a room at the Alyeska Hotel in Girdwood! Alfred has never been so I was pretty excited to show him the best hotel in Alaska!! We were counting on hiking at the top of the tram, however, high winds and rain but a damper on those plans. When we got down there we went for a little walk up the ski trails. I bought my own downhill ski boots and am pretty excited about getting to use them this winter!! I am not a very good downhill skier at all...he will have to be patient with me. We got a little wet from our walk but got to check into our room early, so that was awesome!! We changed and headed straight for the pool. We swam and enjoyed the sauna. Unfortunately, there were some guests there that I know from work (aka felons) so that was slightly discouraging. Running into inmates on the outside of the jail is just part of the job, but it sure is annoying when you are at a beautiful hotel trying to have a romantic weekend!! We got ready and headed to dinner at Double Muskey! It was fabulous as always and there was an amazing piece of peanut butter pie for dessert. We both agreed that it might have been one of the best desserts we ever had!! Later that night we headed over to the Oktoberfest. This is starting to sound kind of complainy...lol, but it wasn't quite what we expected there either. The best part of the night was calling it an early night to go enjoy our room!! The next morning we got up and headed down to the gym for a run. We headed home early because the weather was not ideal. This was kind of my adios to summer trip and it just HAD to end with rain. An excellent example of the entire summer!! I wanted beautiful fall pictures and lots of time spent outside, but we got what we got. Time spent together is the most important thing...even if we got a little skunked!!
