Our First Date...

I was getting pretty fed up with the online dating. It takes up tons of time and gets you mostly no where....however, then you get lucky!! Alfred and I exchanged some emails, he told me he was a dentist and liked to hike. He was reading a book about how to become a better swimmer. We wrote back and forth for a month or so and I hadn't heard from him in a week or so. He wrote me back claiming his computer had been broken for a week...which turned out to be true..lol. His Apple took a crap shortly after that. He asked me if I would still like to meet for coffee. I told him I could meet him in Wasilla after he got off work on Friday. I was having lunch with the girls out there anyway. I honestly didn't think much of it. It was probably just another hum-drum coffee date. He was a dentist and we probably wouldn't have much in common. However, it interested me that he was smart and seemed to like being active. So on the date I go....
We met at Kaladis in Wasilla, it was pouring rain. I went in and looked around. Didn't see anyone that looked like the guy in the picture. I was looking for an average height guy, dark hair, and glasses. I saw a guy getting ready to sit down who smiled at me when I looked around. He didn't look like the guy in the picture...he looked better!! He wasn't wearing his glasses, but was so handsome. He had such a nice smile too! So we shook hands, introduced ourselves, ordered some lattes and started to chat. We chatted about our jobs alot. He told me lots about dental school and I talked about working in the women's prison. He thought it was pretty cool that I could shoot a shotgun and told me he liked shooting..we talked about going together sometime. He didn't seem like a gun guy, but he is! Our jobs are at complete opposite spectrum's, but I know lots of medical stuff since that's what I did before this. We talked for over and hour before I realized the coffee shop wasn't crowded anymore...I guess i was too busy paying attention to him to notice everyone had left...lol! We had really great conversation and made each other laugh a bunch. I defiantly thought there was a connection. It was different than every other guy I had been out with in the past 5 months. It was easy, fun, kinda natural with him. I wasn't contemplating how to get the hell out there, which was a good sign!! I told him that I was going to the Air Show on Sunday to meet some friends. He was also planning to go with his Dad. He offered to ditch his Dad and go with me which I thought was really cute ;). So before the end of our first date we made plans to have a second date! It was getting late so I thought I should get going. He walked me out and we gave each other a big hug!
While driving home I have to admit I was pretty excited about him. He was a little shy, but made great conversation...actually asked me questions (which most guys don't have the concept of..lol). I thought he was great. Did he think it went ok? Well he asked me out again so that must be good right?

Alyeska Skiing

Went skiing today at Alyeska with Eric. Weather was great and I finally braved Chair 4. I fell like 3 times on the way down, but it was fun! I am going to make a goal to ski more next year and get better at this!! Skiing in the spring only means that Summer is right around the corner!

Before I fell a bunch...what a beautiful day!

Me sitting on the lodge...pretty beat after a long day on the slopes!!

Rugby anyone?

Wendy has a friend named Marissa. I met Marissa at Wendy's house one night. She had some people over for a fabulous dinner and games. I really liked Marissa, she was super funny and witty. She mentioned that she coached a womens rugby team. I played a tiny bit of Rugby in West Chester, PA with my friend Meg about 10 years ago. So, when Marissa asked me to play I said .."Sure". We started practice in the parking lot of a school. Practice is every Tuesday and Thursday night. After the first practice, I pretty much thought I would die. It was a tough work-out and I was so sore the next day. However, I kept going. Meeting new girls and playing a team sport is just what I needed!! All of the girls are so nice and we were having a blast. The game is really tough and you get pretty bruised up, but it is fun! This should be a fun summer.
