Memorial Weekend

I was so excited for our trip to Homer this weekend. Alfred had a 3 day weekend and Angela was up from San Diego!! We borrowed my roommates camper and truck and started the long drive to Homer. My roommates 1980's truck is not the most comfortable ride in the world, but it did have a nice bench seat for snuggling :0. We stayed at a beautiful campground and had unbelievable weather all weekend. My good friend Ally from work was there camping with her family. She has a big family with a bunch of nieces and nephews. They were so cute...it made me miss playing with all my cousins when we were little!! We rode bikes around on the spit and relaxed by the fire. Some girls from the Rugby team came down too. We finally made it the "Spit", we didn't see what the big deal is. Its just a bar, but we got our tee-shirts anyways! I wish we would've gone fishing, but it just didn't come together this trip.

I felt a little bad for Angela on this trip. I just met Alfred a month ago and we are very affectionate. I did not want her to feel left out or uncomfortable. We were happy to have her along. I have known Angela since freshman year in high school. She has always been a great friend. She lives in San Diego now so we visit each other at least once a year. She is the only friend that has been up to visit me. I wish more people would come, but I understand...its a long way and not cheap.

When we got back to Anchorage the weather was still beautiful! Wendy, Angela, Alfred and I all went hiking in Girdwood (Winner Creek) on Monday. We were hoping to eat at Double muskey, but it was closed! We had a great day and ate some good pizza at Chair 5 instead. Angela stayed a few more days then I shipped her back to sunny Southern California. Her visit was great and I can't wait to see her again!!

Alfred's 31st Bday

Well this was kind of interesting. I have only been dating him for a few weeks and it's his Bday. I like him a lot but don't want to do anything too overboard...yet :)It was a Monday and he had to work all day. I thought and thought about what to do. I finally went with delivering coffee to him at work. I stopped and grabbed him a cycling magazine (to read in between patients) and a coffee from Starbucks. I drove all the way out to Wasilla and found his office. I had never been there before so I was kinda nervous and he had NO idea I was coming. I went in and asked the front desk lady if I could see Dr. Land. I was really nervous, I didn't want him to think I was a crazy stalker...lol! I was in the waiting room and he came by to check one of his patients but he didn't even see me.....hehe! He came out and looked pretty surprised to see me, but happy. I gave him his coffee and magazine and told him to have a great Bday. He just started with a patient, so I didn't want to interrupt! I thought it was cute and so did he. I really like making him happy! Later on he text me and said it made his day!! YAY!!
Later that night we went for sushi dinner with his Dad, roommate, and an out of town friend. I met his Dad for the first time....yikes! He seemed really nice, he's a Dentist too. After dinner I wanted to go do something with just him and I. My ideas were going to the shooting range or golf. I am pretty good at shooting!! He really likes both so I let him pick. He chose golf, which was fine...I just had never done it.Here we go again with the embarrasment..lol.I am always willing to try new things so off we went. We hit some balls at the driving range...well HE hit some balls...lol! I pretty much looked silly trying, but I did connect with one or two. I think it would be fun so we will try that again sometime! He is of course..really good at golf. Since it was a Monday, we didn't stay out too late. I hope he had a good birthday. I sure have fun spending time with him.

My first 5K...the Torch Run

So the working out has been going so well. I have Rugby to keep me in shape and I go to the gym a lot! One of the best things about Alfred is that he runs, bikes, hikes, swims, and does tons of exercising to stay in shape. He agreed to run a 5K with me. I never thought I would meet a guy willing to do this stuff with me. We try and do something active almost everyday. He even promised to start running with me!I was a little unsure if I wanted to run with him. He has been running for 2 years and will probably think I am a snail. Also, getting all red and sweaty in front of the guy you are trying to impress isn't my cup of tea! However, I wanted to spend the day with him and it would be motivating to have him there. Originally the plan was to run in Seward with Suzy and Jarod. They had to leave town due to a death in the family. I still wanted to challenge myself so we changed the plans and ran it in Anchorage instead. I was super nervous. I have never been very athletic and working out for a few months didn't mean I was ready for this! What if I collapsed in front of Alfred or quit in the middle?? I had a little anxiety before the start, but I hid it well!! We got started and kept a nice slow pace that he said was good for him ( I was thinking yeah sure I am so slow...this can't be good for you). I did take 2 walking breaks for just a minute or two. There was a big hill at the end that about killed me too, but we finished together around 42 minutes. Pretty slow, but it was my first time. All I cared about was that I finished. It was so cool of him to run with me. We will have to do this more often!
Later that day we decided to camp in Seward anyway. This was one of my favorite nights with Alfred so far. We set up our tent and headed into downtown to shoot some pool. I am usually pretty good at pool so I figured that I would have him beat no problem. This was one of the first times I realized that Alfred is really good at...well...everything!! He beat me several times then we played as a team. We made a great team..he hit all the balls in while I drank my beer...lol! No, I'm kidding, I made a couple shots I'm sure!!
A pretty good band was playing at the little dive bar. We had a few drinks and decided to dance. There was only a few people dancing, but we thought "ahh what the heck". No one will know us in Seward if we look silly anyways. My favorite thing about the evening was this. A creepy guy that had been dancing and acting like a fool came up and asked Alfred if he could dance with his girl. Alfred thought about it for a quick second, pulled me in tighter, and said "no". So cute!! We had such a great time. It poured rain on us all night in the tent, but totally worth it!! What an awesome night!!

Our second date...Air Show

I spent forever getting ready. He was right on time to pick me up. Picking me up was very nice, I don't think a guy has picked me in years...lol! It's usually an I'll meet you there kind of thing. We had been texting all weekend about how excited we were for our date. I was really happy to see him. We headed to the airshow planning on meeting Suzy and Jarod there. Suzy is my good buddy from work. Her and the hubby have a plane. Once again we had lots to talk about and had fun walking around the show. I introduced him to Suzy and some of her friends, hung out for a bit, then went on our way. We walked into all the planes outside, mostly C-130 style military planes. They did have some pretty cool Coast Guard stuff there. At one point we were stuck in kind of a small area waiting in line to get in the cockpit. I almost tried to kiss him there, but figured I had better wait. I was having such a good time and being the bold outgoing gal that I am; I decided to hold his hand. He grabbed mine back....perfect...I did NOT just completely embarrass myself! After that we grabbed some dinner at Bear Tooth. We decided to go see "How to Train You Dragon" in 3D. I thought it was awesome he was willing to see a kids movie. The movie was ok...sitting next to him in the theatre was..awesome!! We went back to my house and watched family guy. He met my mom and roomie. We kissed goodnight for a long, long time...it was perfect! A day that I did not want to end!
